I can’t remember who wrote this, but it goes like this: “suffering ceases to be suffering the moment we bear it”, the ultimate example being Jesus’ drinking of the cup of punishment to the dregs.
Instead of avoiding suffering like cowards, let us face them head on. Instead of dreading problems in anxiety, let us march forward head on. Let us take it to the dregs, as long as we are certain we’re doing it for His sake and not our own. The pain shall pass over time, but cowardice won’t pass His judgment. One is highly temporal, the other absolutely eternal. Choose wisely.
